Nightlight (2015)

The relative restraint of keeping any supernatural creatures and most violence just offscreen works well to maintain suspense. It’s too bad Beck and Woods didn’t exercise equal caution in the dialogue department.

Like a flashlight that's running low on juice, you can feel the life oozing out of Nightlight with every faint flicker.

Nightlight is a perfect example of a film with interesting ideas that are totally smothered by poor execution.

Filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods water down the element of surprise, even if they get the found footage shtick down to a science.

It's all very familiar in that Blair Witch kind of way, with neither the characters nor situations proving remotely interesting.
