Somehow, though, director Huck Botko and writer Jeff Tetreault have turned their dopey tribute to testosterone into a surprisingly amusing rom-com.

Village Voice
Bad Johnson is probably the most thoughtful movie possible about a penis that takes human form.

A sometimes amusing sex farce.

The Dissolve
Instead of trying for something truly outrageous or surreal—qualities that should flow naturally from the script’s insane premise—writer Jeff Tetreault and director Huck Botko opt for rom-com blandness from beginning to end, leaning hard on generic conventions even as they pretend to satirize them.

The film will leave viewers feeling emasculated in more ways than one.
